Hi Dave N, At OWL Rafting we are proud to say that we serve hearty home style meals. Some package include these meals and in other cases you can add on extra. All rafting trips with OWL include a meal served aboard our pontoon boats. The pontoon boats travel up river BBQing your lunch or dinner on the way. They meet you at the bottom of the rapids for a hot meal as soon as you are off the water. The boat then cruises back to the OWL Resort while you enjoy your meal. Each meal includes a hot BBQ item, salads, and drinks. We have vegetarian options with prior registration. Our Family meals are often feature Hamburgers and caesar salad, while our adventure dinners feature steak and baked potatoes. Our lunches vary between sausages, chicken, and pork chops. All BBQ's and served freshly grilled. Cheers, The OWL Team
Can someone help me with advice between Owl, River Run, and Wilderness. I have 2 boys 14 & 15. We will likely rent a cabin or camp. How do they compare as far as: a) experience b) campground/cabins c) food d) beach for day use e) having others (adults) around in the evening.

Hi; OWL Rafting has been in the Whitewater Rafting Business since 1981, offering High Adventure and family rafting trips on the Ottawa River. Our trips extend one more rapid than other outfitters and then you join our 70 Passenger Pontoon Boats for a BBQ lunch (or dinner) cruise back to our Lakeside Resort. We have a large campground and rustic cabins, on the water with a beautiful beach and a variety of kayaks, canoes, pedal boats and SUP's for your enjoyment after your rafting trips. At this time of the season there are usual many other families and groups on our daily trips and spending the night.
Hi, what type of rapids should one expect in late June this season? I'm coming off a rafting trip on the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon and would like to know if I should expect higher / lower levels of rapids. Our guide said it was around 5-6 on a scale of 1-10. What scale is Ottawa based on? Where can you get the best rapids within a 100 radius of the city Ottawa? Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave, The international water classification system is from I - VI. Six is considered nearly "unrunnable". Big waterfalls or sections of river with features that are not passable. The Ottawa River has Class I-V rapids. The Grand Canyon uses a 1-10 scale to rate the rapids. From my understanding it is considered double the international system. A 5-6 would be a Class III on the Ottawa River. It is difficult to forecast the exact trip you will have as the water levels change daily and the Class of the river and the features that you would raft change based on the daily water level. For your average high adventure rafting trip on any day through the season you can expect to run Class III & IV rapids. OWL Rafting is located a 90 minute drive West from the city of Ottawa. If you are looking for the best local rapids the section of the river that we raft is world renowned. If you have enjoyed your previous rafting you will love the Ottawa. Most rafting has cold water as it is from glacial runoff. The Ottawa River is based on watershed and the water at the end of June can be warm. I hope this answers your question. If you are interested in rafting please be sure to let us know and we will send you a quotation. Sincerely, Natalie & the OWL Rafting Crew
