Strawberry Field, the site immortalised by John Lennon in The Beatles hit, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’, opens its iconic red gates to the public for the first time in 2019. Previously the site of a Salvation Army children’s home where the young John Lennon played in the grounds, it will now be a unique addition to Beatles tourism. With an exhibition, café, shop, gardens & - at its heart - a Steps to Work programme, for young adults with learning disabilities & other barriers to employment. In the exhibition, visitors can learn more about the history of the site, the café is a place to socialise and enjoy locally sourced dishes, the shop stocks authentic merchandise from handpicked suppliers & the gardens are a calm space for reflection.
