Protesters threw petrol bombs, bricks and fireworks at police during another night of disorder in Ballymena on Tuesday. Five people were arrested and a further 17 officers were injured overnight, bringing the total to 32.

A local leisure centre was set alight with a number of people still inside the building during a third consecutive night of disorder in Ballymena

A hatchet was also thrown at police lines during this disorder in a clear attempt to seriously injure our officers – and I thank them once again for their continued efforts p
