Neon, which acquired the new film from the dissident Iranian director for North America a few days ago, has picked the Palme winner for the sixth year in a row.

Iranian dissident filmmaker Jafar Panahi’s revenge thriller “It Was Just an Accident” has won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday.

On Saturday morning, Cannes experienced a high power outage on the final day of the festival, with police suspecting foul play as powerlines were sawed off in the Alpes-Maritimes; power was quickly restored as the fest has an independent power supply ready to go.
