When Yoshinobu Yamamoto signed his historic 12-year, $325 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he became the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history. The 27-year-old Japanese sensation etched his name in World Series history in 2025 against the Toronto Blue Jays,

Yamamoto signed his contract with the Dodgers on Dec. 27, 2023, after starring in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball for the Orix Buffaloes. Shohei Ohtani had signed his $700 million deal with the Dodgers just a couple weeks earlier. Yamamoto decided to come aboard, too. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is from Bizen, Okayama in Japan.

Yamamoto has been a big-time performer in the postseason for the Dodgers, but the offense will have to break out of its slump and back him with some runs if the Dodgers are going to force a Game 7.
