A federal appeals court late Thursday paused a ruling that required President Donald Trump to return control of members of California’s National Guard to the state.
A federal judge ruled Trump’s deployment of the California National Guard during the ICE riots was illegal and ordered control returned to Governor Gavin Newsom.
“He is not a monarch. He is not a king, and he should stop acting like one,” Newsom told reporters outside the federal courthouse after an emergency hearing in downtown San Francisco.
