Kīlauea volcano on the Big Island has resumed eruptive activity as of 3 p.m. HST on January 22, 2025, marking the beginning of the fifth episode of an ongoing eruption that started on December 23, 2024.

Kilauea resumed eruption shortly before 3 p.m. today which marks its fifth episode of volcanic activity. The United States Geological Survey reported that small spatter fountains were coming from Kilauea at 2:57 p.

The eruption at Kīlauea volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii has entered its fourth eruptive phase as of this morning, January 15, 2025, following low-level lava spattering that began around 5:40 a.m.
