Sovereignty won the 157th running of the Belmont Stakes, capping off a dominant year for the three-year-old horse, who won the Kentucky Derby earlier this year.

The 157th running of the Belmont Stakes belongs to Sovereignty! Sunday's final leg of the Triple Crown pitted Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty against Preakness Stakes champion Journalism in a a 1 1/4 mile rematch of their early May showdown at Churchill Downs.

There may be no Triple Crown at stake but the stage is set for two champions to battle it out in this year’s Belmont Stakes.
