The National Hurricane Center's 11 a.m. Thursday advisory reported that Tropical Storm Melissa is in the Caribbean Sea, 240 miles south-southeast of Kingston Jamaica and 300 miles southwest of Port Au Prince Haiti. The system, with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, is moving west-northwest at 3 mph.
