Thousands of flights across the U.S. were delayed Monday, as severe thunderstorms in the South, Plains and Mississippi Valley disrupted traveling Americans during the Memorial Day weekend. As of 4:30 p.m. EDT on Monday, there were over 4,300 flight delays and more than 125 cancellations in and out of U.S. airports, according to FlightAware.

As millions returned home from their Memorial Day weekend destination, severe weather dampened some travel plans. Storms in Dallas led to more than 600 flight delays Monday and more than 100 cancellations.

Severe storms occurred over Memorial Day weekend in parts of the United States, resulting in reports of large hail, lightning strikes, and flash flooding. FOX 9 meteorologist Cody Matz has more on the story.
