Dave Sims to be Yankees' new radio voice, replacing John Sterling
Sims, 71, has called games on the Seattle Mariners ' TV broadcasts for the past 17 seasons. He replaces John Sterling, who retired from the radio booth early last season after 35 years due to health concerns, but returned during the Yankees' playoff run. Sims will partner with Suzyn Waldman on the radio broadcasts.

Sims, known for signature calls such as “Hey now” and “Giddy up, baby,” has been the Mariners’ television play-by-play man since 2007. The Philadelphia native will now join the 78-year-old Suzyn Waldman, Sterling’s longtime broadcast partner, in the Yankees’ radio booth. WFAN is close on a deal to hire Dave Sims as John Sterling’s replacement.
