Where Vanderbilt's College Football Playoff, SEC Championship Game chances stand after Missouri win
Back-to-back home wins over LSU and Missouri have the Commodores (7-1, 2-1 SEC) in the driver's seat. But that doesn't mean it's a lock. Vanderbilt can't fall prey to thinking a berth is already in hand with road matchups against Texas and Tennessee and a potential trap game against Auburn coming up.

As the weeks go on, the stakes get higher. Next week in Austin, Texas is no different as Vanderbilt looks to likely eliminate Texas from the College Football Playoff conversation. But in its own right, Vanderbilt looks to stay solely in the playoff conversation.
Vanderbilt football is still outside the top 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, moving up one spot to No. 11 after a 17-10 win over Missouri. In the Oct. 26 edition of the poll, the Commodores (7-1, 2-1 SEC) are the fifth-ranked SEC team, behind Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC) - After another win Saturday, Alabama remained in the top 4 in the latest AP Top 25 ranking while the Vanderbilt Commodores reached their highest since 1937. Ole Miss jumped up one spot after their road win over Oklahoma while LSU dropped all the way out of the Top 25 after being handily beat by Texas A&M in Baton Rogue.
Vanderbilt athletics had a great weekend overall. It did get started off on the wrong foot, however. Vanderbilt volleyball played Georgia Friday night in Nashville, but lost 3-1. The two teams fought neck and neck the first two sets as Georgia took the first set 25-23 and Vanderbilt took the second set 25-22.
