A weather system in the eastern Caribbean Sea continues to show signs of development on Monday Oct. 20, and forecasters say a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form within the next several days. If it becomes a named storm as expected, it would get the name Melissa.
Tropical Storm Melissa has formed in the Caribbean Sea, as of the 11 am update from the National Hurricane Center. Melissa is the 13th named storm of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season. Melissa has sustained winds of 50 mph and is moving west at 14 mph. The storm is moving over very warm waters.
