The entrepreneur directly responsible for The Warm Friend Tavern was August Landwehr, but Landwehr wasn’t a hotelier.
But the newly built spur of the Chicago and West Michigan Railway, which ran between Holland and Ottawa Beach, hurt their business. So, in 1895, Boone (along with E.O. Philips) bought back the hotel.
