The Chinese government is filing legal action against the United States with the World Trade Organization over President Donald Trump’s 10% tariff on all Chinese imports. Trump announced on Saturday that he placed a 10% tariff on Chinese goods in addition to the 25% tariffs he implemented on Mexican and Canadian imports,

The move likely will trigger retaliation and risk igniting a trade war that could cause broad economic disruption for all countries involved.

The US tariffs “seriously violates” WTO rules, the ministry said in a statement, urging the US to “engage in frank dialogue and strengthen cooperation.”
