The Boxing Day Test between India and Australia has set new records at the MCG, with over 2,99,329 fans attending the first three days.

More than 370,000 fans flocked to the MCG across the five days of the Test, breaking a record that’s existed since the 1930s.

Fans have charged to the MCG for the final day of the Boxing Day Test, making the overall attendance an Australian record. Before lunch on Day 5, the crowd was recorded at 51,371 (with more people coming through), making the total attendance for the Test 350,700.

India made several mistakes in their 184-run loss to Australia in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne recently, as a result of which the Pat Cummins-led hosts moved into the lead for the first time in the five-match series with one game to go.

Over five days, 350,700 spectators visited the venue, exceeding the previous record of 350,534 set in 1937.
