Many Colony Ridge businesses remained closed for the day after an immigration operation Monday that resulted in at least 118 arrests.

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said criminal charges included homicide, theft, child sex abuse and drug offenses, among other things.

Conservative state officials have previously accused the residential community north of Houston of being a safe haven for people in the country without legal status. It was not immediately clear Tuesday whether the reported number of arrests were made this week or as part of ongoing enforcement initiatives.
