Mike Moustakas, who spent two years with the Brewers and made an All-Star team, is set to officially retire as a member of the Kansas City Royals.
The Royals announced Monday that Moustakas, a three-time All-Star and central piece of the 2015 World Series champions, will retire later this year. Officially, Moustakas will sign a one-day contract and retire with the Royals on May 31. “Always a Royal,” the team wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Moustakas then went on to slug eight home runs with a .767 OPS down the stretch for the Brewers that year as they made their push to the NL Central crown. Not only did he add to the team on the field, but was a valued veteran leader in the clubhouse. Now, Moustakas' career is officially coming to a close.
