BOSTON -- Martin Necas and Jack Drury each made his debut for the Colorado Avalanche in a 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Saturday. The forwards were acquired Friday in a three-team trade also involving the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks that sent Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall to the Hurricanes.
The Bruins played a rope-a-dope game for two periods before Morgan Geekie scored two early third-period goals off a pair of beautiful David Pastrnak assists to lift the B’s over the Colorado Avalanche,
Geekie had one five-on-five goal when the Bruins dismissed coach Jim Montgomery. In 31 games under Sacco, Geekie has exploded for 12. Geekie has recorded his team-leading 13 five-on-five strikes, three more than Pastrnak, by getting open, going to the front of the net and reading off his linemates well.
