The nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were announced Thursday and it was a big morning for “Emilia Pérez,” “The Brutalist” and “Wicked.”
After a delay due to the L.A. wildfires, the Oscar nominations are now set to go with Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang tapped to announce the nominees.
On the music side, living legend Elton John scored a nomination in the Best Original Song category for “Never Too Late”. In an Instagram post, he called it “an incredible honour” and highlighted his collaborators on the track: Brandi Carlile, Bernie Taupin and Andrew Watt.
The Oscar nominations ceremony was initially slated for January 17 but was moved to January 19 in the wake of the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
The 2025 Oscar nominations are set to be announced at 8:30am ET (1:30pm GMT) on Thursday (January 23). This year’s nominees will be revealed during a live broadcast presented by Bottoms actor Rachel Sennott and SNL star Bowen Yang from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Viewers can tune in on the Oscars website or Hulu.
