Celtic has signed striker Jota from Rennes in time for the Champions League knockout phase. The deal on Monday brings him back to Scotland for about one third of the fee Celtic got selling him to Saudi Arabia 18 months ago.

Ligue 1 side Rennes signed Japanese international Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic on Monday, with Portuguese forward Jota rejoining the Scottish champions.The Portugal under-21 international left the Glasgow outfit to join Saudi side Al Ittihad before moving to Rennes in August last year.

Kyogo Furuhashi has completed his transfer from Celtic to Rennes, the clubs have announced. The Japanese striker has signed for the Ligue 1 side, after completing a medical in France. Kyogo had told Celtic earlier this season of his wish to move on and find a new challenge.

CELTIC HAVE SECURED Jota on a five-and-a-half-year contract after the Portuguese winger swapped places with Kyogo Furuhashi. The 25-year-old has completed his move from Rennes 18 months after leaving Celtic in a reported €28 million move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.
