The PGA Tour is expected to move the Genesis Invitational from Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles to Torrey Pines near San Diego, Golfweek and Sports Illustrated reported Monday.
The tournament was scheduled to take place from Feb. 13 to 16 at The Riviera Country Club, which is in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The Genesis Invitational, which is hosted by Tiger Woods, is among the PGA Tour’s eight “signature” events, with limited fields of the tour’s top players and increased prize money. Its $20 million payout is more than double the $9.3 million being offered this year at the Farmers.
Wildfires in the Los Angeles area forced a relocation of this year’s Genesis to Torrey Pines, which is hosting a Tour event this week.
