Sting is pulling out of his next few public engagements as he recovers from a temporary throat infection, the rock star announced Tuesday. In a post on his Instagram, the Police frontman's team wrote that he would be canceling his scheduled appearance at the Jan.

Sting has postponed three US concerts and canceled an awards appearance due to illness. In a statement published on Instagram on Wednesday, the British rock legend said that “with severe regret” he had canceled an appearance at the Bass Magazine Awards scheduled for Thursday following advice from his doctor.

Fans should retain their tickets for the postponed shows," said a statement on the musician's official Instagram account on Tuesday, Jan. 21

Sting said he is “steadily improving” from a temporary throat infection, after postponing two concerts and cancelling an awards ceremony appearance on doctor’s advice. The former Police frontman was due to perform at the Bass Magazine Awards in California on Thursday, where he was to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award.

The British singer was famously a member of The Police (alongside Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland) before departing the band during a concert in August 1983. His debut solo album, The Dream of the Blue Turtles, was released in 1985 and he has dropped 14 solo records since.

Sting, who has postponed multiple concerts due to a temporary throat infection, took to social media to thank his fans for their concern.

The Every Breath You Take hitmaker was due to perform at the Bass Magazine Awards in California on Thursday, where he was also set to receive a lifetime achievement award. Sting- who is currently on the STING 3.
