At least two Palestinians were killed Tuesday as Israel launched a large-scale military operation in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, the Palestinian health ministry and the Israeli army said.The military said troops opened fire and "eliminated" two Palestinians who had attempted to steal a soldier's weapon as the "counterterrorism operation" was underway in the old city of Nablus.

Additional operations in the Menashe area led to the arrest of four wanted individuals, as well as over 10,000 NIS in terror funds being confiscated.

The son of a Pro-Palestinian activist has said he "remains in the dark" after she was detained in the occupied West Bank. Deirdre Murphy, who lives in Swansea, has been held in custody since 31 May when she was arrested in a southern part of the territory.

Israel approved a massive expansion of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank this week in a move described as a continuation of de facto annexation of the territory.

Israel said the newly announced settlements​ in the occupied West Bank would include the legalization of outposts already built without government authorization.

The directors of the Oscar-winning documentary “No Other Land” had invited journalists to interview residents about increasing Israeli settler attacks on Palestinians in the area.
