The Chinese Ministry of Commerce has promised to implement countermeasures and has accused the United States of violating trade rules.

China has strongly denounced US President Donald Trump's decision of imposing tariffs, while also leaving the door open for talks to avoid a deepening conflict, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday.Beijing's Commerce and Finance ministries said China will challenge the decision before the World Trade Organization and take unspecified "countermeasures".

China’s Ministry of Commerce said it would file a legal case against the United States at the World Trade Organization (WTO), in response to President Donald Trump’s decision Saturday to impose 10 percent tariffs on Chinese goods.

In a statement, the ministry’s spokesperson vowed further “countermeasures” against the United States but did not specify what steps it would take.
