FOXBOROUGH — Though the Browns lost 32-13 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, Myles Garrett couldn’t have done much more to help his team. The defensive lineman set a Cleveland franchise record with five sacks and was living in New England’s backfield all afternoon. “I would throw the whole performance away for a win,” Garrett said.
Garrett came close to the NFL record in Week 8, but still needed multiple sacks to set a new record. Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas holds the record with seven sacks in a single game. He accomplished that feat against the Seattle Seahawks in 1990. Similarly to the Browns, the Chiefs actually lost that contest 17-16.
The Browns star became the first NFL player with five-or-more sacks in a loss since former Crimson Tide great Derrick Thomas.
