The original Senators existed from 1883 to 1934. In 1990, the Ottawa-native businessman bid to the NHL to establish a new franchise with the old name and the old black-and-red-and-white color scheme.

The Senators have had several different logo designs during the franchise's 29 year history. Prior to the 1950s, many teams did not have formal logos. In that case, a photo of their jersey or their team colors is shown below.

Not to be confused with the original Ottawa Senators. From 1992 to 2007, the gold colouring tended to be olive-coloured in media prints. The OTTAWA SENATORS wordmark was replaced by two olive branches, with the branch also being removed on the centurion's helmet.
