Feb 2, 2016 · In the lead-up to their centennial season, the Toronto Maple Leafs unveiled their new primary logo on Tuesday night. And in a surprise twist, so did their AHL farm club, the Toronto Marlies! The design matches up with what Icethetics first reported on Saturday.

Feb 2, 2016 · The Maple Leafs will unveil the team’s new uniforms incorporating the logo at the 2016 NHL Draft to be held June 24-25 in Buffalo, New York. In keeping with past traditions, the Toronto Marlies will also adopt the Maple Leaf’s new mark which will incorporate the historic Marlies crown into the logo.

When the AHL St. John's Maple Leafs were relocated to Toronto in 2005, the Marlies nickname was revived. Coinciding with the Leafs' branding update in 2016, a modernized version of the crown was added to the Marlies logo as a tribute to the old Marlboros.
