Betavolt’s BV100 is a tiny nuclear battery designed to generate electricity for up to fifty years. A normal lithium battery stores power, then needs charging again once it runs out. The BV100 works differently. Inside, nickel-63 slowly decays and a diamond semiconductor converts that energy into electricity. Because the nickel decays so slowly, the battery can keep producing power for decades without charging. It currently generates 100 microwatts. That is enough for small sensors, medical devic
