Remembrances of the past week at Bearskin Lodge on the Gunflint Trail. Summer is off to a superb start. Canoeists have been happy about the lower level of bug life, fishing has been good, activities are in full swing, kids are having a great time at the beach, and visitors are capturing fun wildlife photos (including at least one annoying candid shot). Blowdown video! Today is the 25th Anniversary of the historic BWCA storm now known as "The Blowdown." Derecho winds raged across the entire area, changing the face of parts of the BWCA and Gunflint Trail permanently. Bearskin was hit exceptionally hard.
