A Diesel Brake Tender is a specialised railway wagon used by British Railways in the 1960s to provide extra braking power for heavy, non-brake fitted goods trains hauled by diesel locomotives, which had less brake force than steam engines. These bogie-mounted vehicles added weight and braking capacity, often placed near the locomotive, and were phased out as freight wagons became fitted with continuous brakes.
