Combining processes is a great way to resurrect prints that were not quite as I wanted them! When I work with plants through monoprinting, I’m not aiming to preserve them exactly as they were. The image shifts from plant, to impression. When I then layer that over an imperfect lino print, I’m accepting that the work will change again. I’m trying not to be precious with the results. My grasses have mostly gone over now or been eaten by creatures that share the meadows, so they’re another plant I’m already missing. But that’s also the joy of seasonality, there is always something to look forward to as the year turns. I do love the way grasses print, especially against black paper.
