On this day in 1942, Aaron Copland’s ballet “Rodeo” premiered at The Metropolitan Opera House. The original ballet was choreographed by Agnes de Mille for the the Ballet Russe de Monte-Carlo. De Mille herself played the lead, and the premiere received 22 curtain calls.
