This is a Lustron Home. Designed by Carl Strandlund, the Lustron house was introduced in the late 1940s as a response to the post-WWII housing shortage. Made from prefabricated porcelain enameled steel, these homes were designed to be shipped and assembled anywhere, offering a quick solution to the growing need for housing (similar to a Sears kit). The fire-resistant material allowed for easy maintenance - no painting, no wallpaper, no nails, no wood, etc. The production of Lustron homes ceased
